Hon. Laura W.
Hamilton
Circuit Judge
Judge Hamilton has been a circuit court judge since
1999. She served as a Presiding and Juvenile Judge from 1995 to
1999, a District and Juvenile Judge since 1991, an Assistant District
Attorney for Madison County from 1981 to 1990, and a sole practitioner
from 1976 to 1981. Judge Hamilton received her Bachelor of the
Arts degree from Birmingham Southern College and her Juris Doctorate
from University of Alabama School of Law. She is a member of the
Alabama Circuit Judges Association, the Alabama Bar Association, and the
Huntsville-Madison County Bar Association. She is the recipient of
many honors and awards, including the Boy Scouts of America community
Service Award, the Unity Award from Alpha Phi Alpha, and the
Citizen of the year Award from the National Association of Social
Workers, Madison County. Judge Hamilton is active in the community
participating in associations such as Girl Scouts of North Alabama |

CASA, Hospital Hospitality House of
Huntsville, Community Ballet Association, and the Historic Huntsville
Foundation. Judge Hamilton is also a Founding Member of H.O.P.E.
Place, a domestic violence shelter for Northeast Alabama and has been on
the Board of Directors of the Ruth Hindman Foundation since 1983. |
